Tomatoes!
It has been a long time coming. We're about a month or more behind where we were last year, but we finally harvested our first ripe tomatoes yesterday! There were about 7 or 8 beautiful red tomatoes, totaling 1.4 pounds, and there are loads more that should be ripe in about a week. We're hoping to make this year's first batch of homemade Penne all'Arrabbiata before Labor Day. We just harvested all of our garlic, too - just in time!

Hey Sassy Gardener, thought of you yesterday when I got to try Mouse Melon for the first time at the Union Square Farmer's Market. They're so cute and lemony and addictive--and expensive at $4.50 (or so) a QUARTER pound. Now, I wish I would have planted the seeds you sent. Guess it's too late in the season to try to grow them on the windowsill??? Hope all is well! Rachel
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel!
ReplyDeleteYum - glad you got to try the mouse melon! Tragically, I didn't grow any this year either! I wouldn't try them on the windowsill at this point, but if you keep the seeds in a cool dry place they will probably be viable next year. : )
All is well here, thanks! We're busily preparing for our impending parenthood. Hope all is well with you!
